Susan Phelps
Catastrophic Injury Senior Solicitor
Susan Phelps is a highly respected Senior Solicitor in our Serious Injury department, with 30 years of experience in personal injury law. Throughout her career, Susan has dedicated herself to representing people with the most serious, life-changing injuries arising from road traffic accidents, workplace incidents and public liability claims. She works alongside a team of experienced litigators on complex, high-value cases, including brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and catastrophic multiple-trauma claims. Many of the cases Susan handles are valued in excess of a million pounds, where the legal issues can be demanding, but the impact on clients and their families is far greater.
What sets Susan apart is her unwavering belief that every client deserves to be listened to, supported and guided with care throughout their claim. She understands that behind every case is a person whose life has been turned upside down. That is why she puts clients and their families at the heart of everything she does, making sure their needs, concerns and future plans shape the way each case is built.
With compassion, clarity and deep legal expertise, Susan supports clients through what is often the most difficult and uncertain time of their lives. She takes time to explain each step of the process so clients feel informed and reassured, not overwhelmed. Whether she is helping to secure early rehabilitation or preparing a case for a final hearing, Susan never loses sight of the human story behind the litigation.
Since joining Optimal Solicitors in 2021, Susan has become a key part of the firm’s serious injury practice. She shares her experience with colleagues, helps develop talent across the team, and consistently champions the highest standards of client care and legal service. Her goal is not only to secure compensation, but to help clients move forward with dignity, support and a clearer path to the future.
Outside of work, Susan enjoys spending time with her family, taking long countryside walks with her Cavapoochon, Teddy, dining out, and planning her next holiday adventure, often somewhere she can properly unwind and recharge.
