Catastrophic Injury Senior Solicitor & Team Leader
Susan Phelps is a highly respected Senior Solicitor and Team Leader in our Serious Injury department, bringing over 25 years of experience in personal injury law. Throughout her distinguished career, Susan has dedicated herself to representing the most seriously injured individuals—those facing life-changing trauma from road traffic accidents, workplace incidents, and public liability cases.
Susan leads a team of expert litigators handling the most complex, high-value cases, including brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, and catastrophic multiple-trauma cases. Her work consistently involves the most serious injuries, often litigated in excess of a million pounds, where the legal challenges are great—but the stakes for clients and their families are even greater.
What sets Susan apart is her unwavering belief that every client deserves to be heard, supported, and empowered through their legal journey. She knows that behind every case is a person whose life has been turned upside down. That’s why she puts her clients and their families at the heart of everything she does—ensuring their needs, fears, and futures shape the way she builds each case.
With compassion, clarity, and deep legal expertise, Susan guides clients through what is often the most painful and uncertain time of their lives. She ensures they fully understand every step of the legal process, so they feel confident and supported, not overwhelmed. Whether she’s securing early access to rehabilitation or preparing for a final hearing, Susan never loses sight of the human story behind the litigation.
Since joining Optimal Solicitors in 2021, Susan has become a driving force within the firm’s serious injury practice. She leads by example—mentoring junior colleagues, raising the bar for client care, and maintaining the highest legal standards.
Her ultimate goal isn’t just to win compensation. It’s to help her clients move forward—finding closure, restoring dignity, and building a future after devastating loss.
Outside of work, Susan enjoys quality time with her family, long countryside walks with her Cavapoochon Teddy, dining out, and planning her next holiday adventure—often to places where she can truly switch off and recharge.
