Esme Flannery is a Portal Fee Earner in Optimal Solicitors’ Fast Track team, supporting clients through personal injury claims from first instruction to settlement. She runs a busy caseload across Employer’s Liability, Public Liability and Road Traffic Accident claims, guiding clients through the compensation process with clear advice and steady reassurance. Esme is known for her calm, straightforward approach and for keeping clients updated in plain English, so they always know what is happening and what comes next. Esme has experience handling claims both before and after litigation, including gathering evidence, assessing liability, instructing medical experts, valuing injuries, preparing schedules of loss and negotiating offers to secure the best possible compensation. She has also supported more complex work, including clinical negligence matters and claims involving life-changing injuries such as amputations and birth-related brain injuries, giving her a broader understanding of the challenges clients can face and the support they may need. Esme studied law at degree level (LLB) and completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC), giving her a strong grounding in both legal theory and practical client work. She also holds the CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law & Practice. Before moving into law, Esme spent 10 years as a prison officer and volunteered as a Special Constable, experience that shaped her resilience, sound judgement and ability to support people in difficult circumstances. Outside of work, Esme is a proud golf caddy for her son, who is currently ranked 50th in the world for his age group. When she’s not on the course, she enjoys poker, which suits her steady focus and calm under pressure.
